Happy Sunday, Y’all!

Well, as the weekend comes to an end I suppose I should write a blog post. I didn’t do much this weekend besides binge out on Taco Bell (don’t worry I went to the gym to turn that t-bell into pure gainz) and watch Netflix and Youtube. It was nice to have a quieter weekend free from bars and awkward social interactions. Don’t get me wrong- I LOVE to turn up and get lit fam, but sometimes my mind and body need a hiatus from millennial party culture.

This weekend I also finished a lovely book by the beautiful and inspirational Hannah Hart. Hart’s memoir, Buffering: Unshared Tales of a Life Fully Loadedis so flipping good! Totally recommend it if you want to learn some life lessons from a charming and funny young woman.

This upcoming week I will be drowning in work (working 9-5 every day is a buzzkill for my summer). For those who do not know, I work at a learning center that specializes in reading comprehension and literacy. It’s fun working with kids who really need my help, but with high reward also comes high stress. I love my job, but I would be lying if I said It’s 100% stress-free.

Well anyway enjoy your Sunday lovelies and I’ll write something of more substance during the week 😀

Forced Conversations with Polaroids

I place a Polaroid in my hand.

Watching as I develop

Rip it in half

Focus, think about thinking.

I think that’s what you call meta – right?

There are dark circles under my eyes and

the stubble below my chin tells me I need to shave.

Did I forget this morning?

I was probably just being lazy.

I’m looking slightly downward

as if I didn’t want to stare directly at myself.

Which is weird because that is exactly what I’m doing now.

I forget the difference between ironic and coincidental.

It’s probably because I’m overworked-

drained. But from what?

Too much Kan-Jam on the green,

too many papers on an existential crisis. It’s fine, though.

One of these days I’ll catch up on my sleep.

R.E.M wrote some pretty dope songs in the 90’s

I’ve been watching a lot of news lately.

I think everyone has. That keeps me up at night too.

Give us your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,

And we will throw them out.

I think it’s a bit hypocritical

Sad to think this is what I got to look back on

The days seem to go by a lot faster here. Back home they dragged.

Must be something in the water.

Isn’t that polluted too? But yeah,

Bill Nye’s new show is terrible.

I like it though.

I’m still looking slightly downward.

The image is still the same.

Tape can’t make this picture whole

I’m still shaking it although the picture is clear.

Now, that’s meta.

This was a poem I wrote for a workshop I took last semester. I didn’t think it was too bad. It probably is though

Well, this is a thing

This is the post excerpt.

Hey, everyone 🙂 I’m starting a blog. I hope people I know don’t see it. That would be super awkward and embarrassing. Check out my about page and feel free to send me a message! I’ll make my first “real” post when I get a jolt of creative energy.
